FOR THE LOVE OF THIS GREAT CITY.

My Ogbomoso First Group annual get together experience of 2011 remains evergreen till date and it's not because of its ever staging popular musician to make the event lively but the coming together of successful sons and daughters of Ogbomoso under the same roof for what could simply be put as the love for the land.

Like every curious mind I was wondering if the gathering was an all partying affair until the Chairman, Uncle Bayo Babatunde, took on the microphone stating the motive behind the group.

Of course I felt so lucky to be there even as many notable dignitaries I never knew were from Ogbomoso were being mentioned as members.

My love for this group, (O'First),  became increasing the very year Baba Lere Paimo, Eda Onile-ola, was honoured with an award and Uncle Sayo Alagbe was reciting the panegyrics of this glorious son of the soil to the toast of the day.

The year after I remember was a busy one for me as I was not planning to go home for Christmas and Uncle BB wrote me to ask if I was coming around. The message was more of a task I was not ready for then but later I began to think towards the same direction.

In Uncle BB's message of that evening there was an intention to incorporate young lovers of the town into the fold of O'First and somehow I appeared like a point of choice in the manner it was composed.

Am beginning to realise how great a society or city is bound to be if all its arsenals are gathered together to fight a common goal.

We are blessed to have people like Otunba Alao-Akala, H.M Sunday Dare, Senator Ayo Adeseun, Senator Fatai Buhari, Rt. Hon. Mulikat Adeola, Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi, Hon. Captain Ajao,  Hon. Bunvic Odebunmi, Alhaji Rasaq Kareem Gbadegesin, Barrister Akinwole Ogunlola,  Mr. Taiwo Adisa and many other prominent Ogbomoso heroes that time will not permit me to mention. It is a fact some places are not as lucky as this but when are we, like O'First, have shown by example, going to have an annual gathering for every Dick and Harry to hurry home?

Am aware there is a regular Ogbomoso Parapo but how many of these heroes are actively involved?

Apart from Baba Eda Onile-Ola, 9ice, Bigvai Jokotoye, Wale Akorede Okunnu and the lucky husband of Toyin Aimakhu, Kolawole Ajeyemi, are wonderful sons of the soil too doing us proud in entertainment. For the love of this great city, home beckons on us for a touch!
